Easy & Quick Brix Reads!

"This is way simpler and more convenient than a hydrometer. I have anywhere from 10-50 gallons of mead going at a time and this is less intrusive and faster to get my readings.”  - Nathan Wood

Why Buy Our High Accuracy Refractometer?

✅ACCURATE: You simply need a drop of a sample and put it on the prism and look through the eyepiece with our High Accuracy Refractometer and you’ll be able to get consistent accurate readings of 0-32% Brix & even 1.000-1.120 Specific Gravity! It even automatically compensates for temperature making it versatile & easy to use! Specific gravity correlates to the fermentation process so you can get an idea of how much alcohol content is in there so you can decide how to best brew your drinks!

Understanding Brix & Specific Gravity

💭📋 While everyone does their brews differently, here are some standard measurements to get you started on your homebrewing journey!

  • 🍺 Beer:

    • Brix: 10-25 (approximately)
    • Specific Gravity: 1.040-1.070
  • 🍷 Wine:

    • Brix: 18-28 (for grapes)
    • Specific Gravity: 1.070-1.100
  • 🏺 Cider:

    • Brix: 12-18 (approximately)
    • Specific Gravity: 1.045-1.065
  • 🥞 Maple Syrup:

    • Brix: 66-68
    • Specific Gravity: 1.42-1.45
  • 🍯 Honey:

    • Brix: 81-82
    • Specific Gravity: 1.36-1.38
  • 🍎 Fruit Jams and Jellies:

    • Brix: 65-70 (approximately)
    • Specific Gravity: 1.35-1.40
  • ✅DESIGN: With its design, it's extremely easy to carry everywhere from science labs to aquariums and even cellars for homebrews. It's designed for testing the sugar content and specific gravity of liquid so you can be assured of its quality & accuracy!

    ❗ Reminder ❗

    • It does not come with calibration liquid.
    • It needs to be calibrated to your specific needs
  • 📋Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Can I use this to test the sugar content of my fruits?

    A: Yes, it can!

Q: Is maple syrup alright to use with this?

A: This tops out at 32 brix and finished maple syrups are at about 66 brix so this would not be an effective tool to use.

      Great tool!

Great for wines. Meads. Pop off the little screw cover. Dial into 0. I recheck about once a week. (Distilled water) so much easier. Less needed. Easier read. Necessity

      Excellent

After a learning curve understanding that a wort correction factor is required, and that a good software program is required to calculate proper specific gravity if alcohol is in the mix - this refractometer works well enough that I don't even use my hydrometer anymore.
